Narrative and Documents:
Argus Unit 6 was commissioned 7 July 1943
*The “Record of Argus Assembly & Training Detachment” indicates this date. It appears to be in error. Unit Muster Rolls indicate 7 July 1943 as the Unit commissioning date.
No documentation has been found to date establishing the decommissioning date. Unit Muster Rolls exist dated 31 December 1943. The “Record of Argus Assembly & Training Detachment” document dated April 1944 indicates Unit 6’s status as decommissioned.
Operation Goodtime, the invasion of the Treasury Islands, was conducted primarily by the New Zealand Army with support of American forces.
