In the spring of 2009, I worked with Mr. Bill Lee, historian of the USS West Point, on his article about the ship’s voyage from California to Noumae, New Caledonia, and on to Milne Bay. My father, and Argus Unit 24, were aboard that ship. Dad became a “shellback” in the process. It is a good read and I think one worthy of the site. Bill was a pleasure to work with. Please, let me know if you agree.
Larry, you wouldn’t by chance have access to the muster roll for this voyage, would you? I’d be thrilled to see it.
